The Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) Christmas show for 2019 is Kipper’s Snowy
Day, and it's on now! Here's all you need to know...
This heart-warming production by Slot Machine Theatre will be a real
treat for children at MAC, showing from Tuesday 26 November – Tuesday 31
December.
Kipper is an all-time favourite who’s been
a storybook friend to generations of children – and now he’s starring in his
own original, musical Christmas stage show,
perfect for children aged 3+ and their families.
Kipper and his best friend Tiger go on an adventure in the snow - but on
the way they lose their friend Arnold in a terrible storm. Will they find him?
And will they find their way back home?
Based on the award-winning ‘Kipper’
stories by Mick Inkpen, Slot Machine Theatre presents the first stage adaptation
of these well-loved books. This warm-hearted Christmas show is filled with
original songs and music, gorgeous puppetry and gentle humour.
“Kipper’s Snowy Day is the perfect family
show for Christmas, and it’s one of our favourites,” says Nick Tigg, Artistic Director at Slot Machine
Theatre. “We always make shows that are really fun for a
whole family to see together, so there’s plenty of silliness that will make
your kids laugh as well as your granny and grandpa, plus amazing music,
puppetry and adventure.
“The books are beautifully illustrated -
the writer Mick Inkpen is very particular about the pages of his books not
being too cluttered, and we worked closely with Mick on the design and script
of the show.
“Kipper is such a well-loved character, we
wanted to be really faithful to the books, particularly as this is the first of
Mick's Kipper books ever to be adapted for the stage. And we’re very proud that
Mick loves the show!
“Kipper's Snowy Day has had sell-out
seasons at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts, the Curve in Leicester, and the
Connaught in Worthing, and we're super-excited to bring the show to Birmingham
this Christmas. We hope you love Kipper as much as we do!”
