Last week, we were invited to preview the new 'Ice Age - The Lost Kingdom' tour which has a residency at the Botanical Gardens, Edgbaston, Birmingham, every day now until 28th April 2019.
Naz Kabir, Global Event Producer and Marketing Director at Weli Cultural Alliance, comments:
“After three successful years of bringing Magical Lantern Festival to cities across the UK, we wanted to develop a new concept using the expertise of our creative team. Ice Age: The Lost Kingdom really pushes the boundaries of our technology, with 40 animatronic creatures all with moving body parts, wide opening jaws, and sound effects that help transport you back to the prehistoric times.
“Birmingham is the perfect place to launch the touring show as we love the audiences here – they’re always open to experiencing new things and embracing exciting experiences. I can’t wait to welcome everyone to our Ice Age spectacular.”
Whilst journeying through the magical woodland at Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Ice Age fans will explore the 40 prehistoric creatures, whilst enjoying a selection of street food. There will also be a mini cinema marquee showing an educational Ice Age documentary, a fossil excavation pit for kids to unearth skeletons, and merchandise to take a slice of the prehistoric era home with them.
Everyone’s favourite creatures from the Ice Age have arrived in the city and it's the first touring animatronic Ice Age experience of its kind in Europe. Promising to bring the sights and sounds of the Ice Age to life with 40 majestic beasts on display, we headed along to see what it's all about and had a roarsome time!
Providing a great excuse to visit the beautiful gardens and fun playground, Ethan was so excited to see the giant woolly mammoth and to explore the grounds in hunt of all the other creatures and beasts. There was lots to see and it was a great way to explore the outdoor gardens, so Ethan was kept amused and I could take in the stunning surroundings.
Here's some further information from the organisers:
Fun for all the family, this three-week show is being brought to the city by the team behind Magical Lantern Festival, which returned to Birmingham for the third consecutive year last Christmas. Birmingham Botanical Gardens will be the first stop in the tour, before heading to London, Glasgow, Manchester, Nottingham and Leeds.

Now on for the duration of the Easter Holidays, there’s a huge range of animatronic prehistoric creatures to find - including this sabre tooth cat that proved particularly tricky to find for us! - and there's a host of food vendors too offering food from around the world.
We had a great time exploring and it’s great to have something so engaging and interactive right in the city centre. Ethan had so much fun, we brought three prehistoric friends home with us... (from the gift shop!).
