Freezy-peasy! Delicious meals from your freezer, by Gourmade

Whether it's been a busy working week, a day out enjoying the summer hols or you're preparing for the arrival of a new baby (all three apply to us!), I honestly think that EVERYONE could benefit from having a well-stocked freezer to help make family meal times easier. And I've been trying out a fab new freezer meal range, from Gourmade, to see what they have to offer and how it can help me out when it comes to dinner.

Gourmade is a new premium frozen food brand that has quite an impressive selection of main meals, sides and desserts, and trust me, there's something to suit everyone - and a few twists to enjoy too. There's some firm family favourites, including Mac n’ Cheese, Lamb Tagine, Butternut Squash Lasagne and some amazing desserts for those with a sweet tooth (*hands up*).

We were kindly sent the Fish Pie, Macaroni Cheese and Bacon, Posh Peas, Potato Dauphinoise, Sicilian Lemon Roulade and Strawberry Cheesecakes to review and from the speedy delivery, careful packaging, fresh approach to the quality end result, we were really impressed.

First impressions count and Gourmade's packaging looks the business and so does the food; all meals are cooked fresh and frozen within one hour apparently, and I have to say, I was impressed by the presentation of all the meals we enjoyed, how well they cooked and how tasty they were.

Oh, how I love Mac'n'Cheese!
Ethan enjoyed taste testing for us too!

Gourmade’s moto is to ‘Live More, Cook Less’ and the whole ethos is they know how time short everyone seems to be nowadays and that’s where they come in to help. All of their meals are hand finished and frozen from fresh which locks in all those valuable nutrients. What's also really good to know is that they don’t add any preservative or 'nasties' - real peace of mind for us parents. In essence, Gourmade say they are "making the frozen aisle cool again and saving people time for the more important things in life".

Out of everything we tried, the fish pie and posh peas were a particular favourite and both puddings didn't last long. The cheesecake had quite a tang to it and the roulade was lovely and light. All of the meals and dishes were easy to cook, so it was a case of straight out the freezer, into the oven (or microwave) then sit down to enjoy some family time and a nice meal within 20 minutes.

Main meals are priced between £3.50 (single) and £8.95 (double), sides are £3.50-£4.50 and desserts are all £4.50, serving two. There's hampers available, that gives you more value, and other offers too to look out for. Whilst they may cost a little more than standard freezer ready meals, they are quite a bit different and you do get what you pay for. Rather than just seeing frozen food as more basic, I think the options from Gourmade are much more than a back up, and you'll look forward to cooking them, in minimal time and with no fuss.
