As with many other areas of your life, when it comes to your home, it’s often handy to know who to call when you need something. Because we all know just how hard running a home can be. So, it’s something that we don’t always want to have to struggle with.

Having to go through a range of different professionals until you find the right one can be hard, but it’s still something that you might want to do - and ahead of time too. Because there’s nothing like panicking that you need to hire someone or help with something in a hurry and then choosing the wrong person for the job. So, it’s going to help you to get a little black book of property professionals together. By researching online, calling up and asking questions, and getting recommendations from friends and family, it should be simple enough to do. And here are the professionals that you should look to gather up first.
1. A Realtor
First of all, you’re going to want to get yourself a good realtor. Even if you’re not planning on selling your house just yet, they can come in handy. You should also ask them about a good conveyancing company or surveyor too. That way, your realtor can keep your informed or any properties that you might be interested in, and if you want a quick sale process, you know the additional companies you want to work with too.
2. A Handyman
Another handy (pardon the pun) professional to have to hand (and, again), is a handyman. Whether you need a few house sprucing jobs done and you don’t have time to do them yourself, or you’ve got a bit of an emergency, knowing a good handyman for the job is a lifesaver. So make sure you find out who the best person for the job will be now and test them out with a few home maintenance tasks to begin with.
3. A Gardener
As much as the idea of getting out in the yard and gardening may appeal to you, it’s not always something that you have time for. So you will want to find a reliable gardener that can take on work for you. Again, asking around and trialling a couple of people can work well for you here.
4. A Contractor
Another biggie is finding a contractor. Because when you need work doing to your house, you’ll always want to make sure that you have the right person for the job. Make sure you ask your contractor a series of questions to find out if they will be who you want to hire, and shop around. You can often find the best person by comparing different companies and their approach.
5. A Housesitter
And finally, you may also need a house sitter at different times in your life. And this can be something that you’re incredibly weary about, so you need to make sure that you find a house sitter that you believe is reliable and can trust. A lot of research beforehand can pay off for you here.
