The perfect transitional dresses to take me into the new season

I am a big lover of dresses and by far have more of these in my wardrobe than any other item. As September rolls on the the blustery and cooler weather starts to take hold, dresses can make for the perfect transitional item as they are perfect for layering; be it with a long-sleeve top or shirt on underneath a pinafore style or with a cardigan, wrap, jumper, blazer or chunky scarf to keep the look warm and comfortable.

And I have found two perfect dresses to help me step into the new season, courtesy of Simply Be.

I haven't actually shopped online here before but given the chance, I found more than a couple of things that would suit my style and the autumn months ahead too.
First of all, may I introduce this beauty of a Fit and Flair Broderie dress by Lovedrobe (was £52, now £50) in one of my favourite colours, and the ultimate autumnal shade, of mustard yellow. It packs a real punch but the cut and style of the dress is so feminine. The length of the dress is just perfect too, sitting below the knee, so it looks great with pumps but also with ankle boots and black tights.

I'm letting the dress do the talking and keeping the rest of my outfit relatively simple.

The mustard contrasts with black and is really versatile in this way, but you could add a punch of clashing colour, like a red handbag or scarf. Tan accessories look fab too, so I have been wearing pumps and a belt in this tone too.

I also think that this dress looks just stunning when paired with navy blue, so it really is the kind of dress that you can wear any number of ways. Denim looks great for a casual look and leather adds an edge to an otherwise quite girly dress look.

The second dress I picked up was this gypsy style black and rose print dress (was £39, now £31), with bell sleeves and a very floaty (read: flattering) style. This is a generously cut dress (I have size 12 and it's very roomy) so don't worry about sizing - you may find that you need to wear a belt to add some shape!

I love the print, with polka dots and roses adding a romantic feel and the tassels on the sleeves at at the chest area are an added detail. I've worn this with a 90's inspired choker and think I must have worn something very similar to this when I was a teen... but that kind of retro, boho vibe has returned and I think it's a very wearable look.

It's so comfortable to wear and again, I think this makes for a great transitional piece; I can see this working with flats or sandals in warmer months and will be wearing with tights, perhaps in a burgundy to add something to the overall look, and my trusty autumn boots. It can easily be dressed up or down - just think about the accessories and the colour you wear on your lip.

I did also pick up a fab and fun nightie from the Simply Be nightwear collection (now just £5.25!), which as you can see I have been wearing for a few weeks now. It has a bright and bold ice lolly print and is slightly off-the-shoulder, making it a relaxed but a bit flirty all at the same time.

I was really impressed with the offer from SimplyBe and found many dresses, as well as other items including a lovely lingerie and nightwear section, to suit all occasions and, importantly, shapes and sizes, so would definitely recommend it to other women who like a wide collection of wardrobe additions, who have some curves and who want a great selection of styles to suit the season.

* I received the dresses mentioned for purposes of review but choices and opinions are all my own.
