The Summer Conundrum

* Collaborative post

Even though it's only spring, it's always a good idea to get ahead when planning things for you and the kids to do, especially in the summer holidays. As it can be a real conundrum how to keep them amused for all of that time. But what exactly are the options for keeping your little one out of mischief during the long six week summer holidays? Read on to find out.

First of all, it's good to know what you really don't have to spend a fortune over the summer to keep the little one entertained. In fact, there are plenty of things that you can do at home to while away the hours.

For example, you can schedule in special family days when you all take the time to do something together like watch a favourite film marathon with popcorn and duvets on the sofa. Or get out in the garden and plants some new flowers, make a fairy door, or even make use of the rarest of summer days and get the paddling pool out. Sometimes simple activities can work out the best.

Day trips

Of course, you won't want to stay at home all of the time, that is why is can be a great idea to plan out some fun family days out. There are all sorts of thing you can do like visiting a nature reserve, taking a dip at the local pool or visiting attractions like The National Sea Life Centre.

But before you make your choice try and get their kids as involved as possible. Not only will this ensure that they are engaged in the activities throughout the day but it will also make sure that they feel part of the family group as they are involved in the whole process.

Weekends away

Another way to solve the summer conundrum of what to do in that big long holiday is to go on a few weekend trips away. Now, these don't have to be massively expensive or elaborate trips, they can be just one night away in a tent, or at a B&B. You don't even have to travel that far. Sometimes it's just nice to have a change of scene and explore an area that you wouldn’t  normally have access to.

Of course, if you do choose to visit a big city, then it plays worth looking at the sort of activities on offer for your kid's age range before you go. So you can plan your time as well as possible.

Summer holidays

Lastly, the ultimate solution to the summer conundrum is to book a weeks holiday during this time.

If you want to keep the kids as entertained as possible, then a good choice might be something like the holidays from Activities Abroad. Or you could pick an all inclusive hotel, that has a pool and a kids activity centre.

Either way, you will want to make sure that you balance your needs with the kids. So then everyone has the best time possible.
