This is my favourite time of year; I love watching the colours of leaves on the trees changing, I like the feel of crunching fallen leaves under foot and with today being Bonfire Night, the excitement really starts to build for Christmas.
One thing I don't quite like as much is how unkempt our garden can get in a short space of time and how dull it can look as the nights draw in and the temperature drops. Keeping our lawn in order is a challenge at the best of times. We don't have the biggest garden by any means, but it is long and bordered by various bushes and a silver birch tree at the front and fir trees at the back (which we get regularly trimmed by a tree care specialist).
Hubs and I have long had plans to completely overhaul the garden and have lots of ideas of what we would do, to make it a space we can and want to use, come rain or shine, and to also make sure than maintenance isn't so much of a hassle.
Having seen quite a few inspiring examples in real gardens, we're quite keen on the idea of artificial turf. Now, don't think I've gone mad - artificial grass has developed so much in recent years and there are some really lovely, natural looking options available, such as those from Nomow (Europe's leading manufacturer of artificial grass) that mimic the look and feel of real grass, with a lot of detail to ensure the end result blends into your garden environment.
It's something that we will certainly consider next summer because we do want to love our garden again and with Ethan getting bigger by the minute, we'd love to have somewhere nice and safe for him to play in. Plus, with Watson our dog, it's a safe option too and no longer will we have muddy paws coming in the house.
It's pretty easy to clean too, so I hear - in fact someone I know said that they can hoover their lawn! It doesn't fade either so will last for several years and be evergreen even in winter. Available from Nomow from £13.99 per square metre, it's an affordable option too and just think of those hours of mowing that could be saved for something far more fun, like a BBQ or a water fight!
As one year comes towards an end, hubs and I always look ahead to what we want to do and achieve in the next year and our home is always a big part of this. We've changed a lot this year so perhaps 2016 is a time for us to focus on our garden?
What would really help with our home improvement plans, and even our Christmas shopping, would be winning Nomow's competition. They are offering one lucky person the chance to win a £100 Argos voucher and entry takes just a couple of minutes. You can even pop back every day with additional tweets gaining you further entries - so you could be in with a great chance of winning that very useful prize.
The competition ends on Monday 19th December and winners will be announced on Nomow's Facebook and Twitter pagesshortly thereafter.
So, what are you waiting for?!
This is a brilliant prize.
