For fans and bookworms alike, it promises to be a great event plus £1 from every ticket sold will be donated to Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity - so the season of goodwill and giving begins early.
Over to the Symphony Hall team to tell you more...
Town Hall Symphony Hall, HarperCollins Children’s Books and
the bookselling mini-chain Foyles have confirmed that multi-talented and
award-winning author David Walliams
will be coming to Symphony Hall for his biggest event yet. Fans young and old will
be able to hear, for the first time ever in front of a live audience, David
talk about his new children’s fiction title, The Midnight Gang.
David Walliams and THSH will be inviting families from
Birmingham Children’s Hospital to attend the show for free, and £1 from every
ticket purchased will be donated to Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity. HarperCollins
Children’s Books, David Walliams’ publisher for both his fiction and picture
book titles, will also donate a copy of The Midnight Gang to every child
staying in the hospital.
This pre-Christmas season spectacular will take place on
20th November in the heart of Birmingham. Fans are encouraged to take part in
the midnight magic and come dressed to the event in their pyjamas for some
classic Walliams silliness!
Hosted by CBBC presenter, Katie Thistleton, the audience
will hear David read from The Midnight Gang and immerse
themselves in the glorious world of David Walliams. They will also be able to
meet some of their favourite characters from the book including the loveable
Raj – so should arrive early!
Elinor Eustace, Deputy Director of Fundraising at Birmingham
Children’s Hospital Charity, said:
“We are delighted that
Town Hall Symphony Hall have chosen to support us by donating £1 from every
ticket purchased to this event. The money raised will go a long way to making a huge
difference to the lives of our brave children and their families as we continue
our plans to improve our facilities – enabling us to treat even more children
from Birmingham, the West Midlands and around the country.”
Chris
Proctor, Programme Manager at Town Hall and Symphony Hall, added that he’s
looking forward to welcoming David Walliams to Symphony Hall for this very
special event, “We regularly welcome some
of the world’s greatest musicians to our venues, and now through our
partnership with Foyles and HarperCollins Children’s Books, we’re able to
attract literary greats to our halls too.
David Walliams is a national treasure and a much loved children’s author; we have no doubts that his show will be a magical experience for fans young and old. As a charitable organisation ourselves, we understand how important donations are to ensure the expansion of the work already being done by Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity can continue, which is why we’ve agreed to donate £1 per ticket purchased to support the work of the hospital, and are providing a selection of free tickets to enable patients, carers and staff to enjoy the show too!”
