The week that was #2

What's new with me this week? Well, let's see...

DOING This week's been quite a tiring one with lots of travel for work, lots on my mind and a few nice things too, including a new Benefit launch event (keep an eye out for my review, coming soon).

It was hubs' birthday on Tuesday and we had the day off together. In the evening, we had my sister-in-law and her fiancĂ© round for dinner and I decided to make it a mini dinner party, complete with place settings, flowers and a three course feast of hubs' favourite things.

We had bruschetta to start (me recipe for this is coming later this week), lasagne and salad for our main and then apple strudel and custard, or chocolate birthday cake, to finish. Very yum and clean plates all around so I was very happy indeed.

On Saturday, while Ethan and Daddy spent the afternoon watching Frozen and Monsters University, I headed into the city to meet a friend.

We met at the Custard Factory - just one of the fabulous hidden gems that Birmingham has to offer and what makes me love is city so much - and looked around a vintage fair. Full of fur coats and and vintage finds, we had a rummage and I left with a couple of pairs of fabric button style earrings whilst my friend nabbed a tan clutch.

We then spent ages trying to find somewhere for lunch as the city centre is just crazy at weekends and all the restaurants around the Bullring were packed. We went for a wander down New Street and decided on Ask as we'd both never been to this particular one and we were famished. We took forever to decide what we wanted but finally enjoyed risotto balls, pizza and a small glass of vino each (would have been rude not to) whilst chatting away the afternoon. A quick trip to Cath Kidston, just because, rounded off what was a really lovely, relaxed day.

WEARING On Saturday evening, Ste headed for a boys' movie night whilst I went to try on my bridesmaids dress for my sister-in-laws wedding. It's a beaut from Lindy Bop and we all fell in love with it's 50's style fabulousness. This is all I can reveal of it...

In fact, I'm in love in general with Lindy Bop and have been drooling over their beautiful dresses, at amazing prices for some time now.

PLANNING We didn't think a holiday of any kind would be on the cards this year but hubs has bagged himself a great, new and very well deserved job and we were able to book a break to one of my favourite places - Center Parcs. I was long a fan before I become part of their family bloggers club last year and very much wanted to book a stay at the new Woburn Forest this year if we could as it looks incredible.

We looked at dates and prices and then hubs surprised me with the booking confirmation. A holiday abroad wasn't something we could really stretch to and we think Ethan's perhaps still a little young to really benefit from it, plus,as we know, Center Parcs has everything you need for a family holiday, no matter how much or little you want to do. So, in September, Woburn Forest here we come!

TRYING As mentioned, I went to a new Benefit launch - held on the back of a pink, pimped out truck no less - and I've been putting their new product to the test with great results. I've been getting lots of compliments and I'll reveal all in a post soon.

ETHAN I've been having such a lovely week with my little man. He's just growing and developing before our eyes and this week I've really been noticing the changes. He's been really cuddly and fun and chatty.

He's started at Tweenies this week at nursery and seems to love his new room, new friends and twice daily visits to the garden. He also knows the names of his friends which is really touching to see.

He's also been loving Frozen this week, Sven in particular, starting with a themed day at nursery on Monday and then watching the film, reading the books and carrying his cuddly toys with him everywhere at home.

He was the centre of attention when we saw family at the weekend and he's just becoming such a funny, affectionate and clever chap. My heart is bursting this week.
